What is going on
Codex reports that all tests pass. You open the app, follow the steps a real user would, and the feature fails.
Error messages you might see
Common causes
- The tests were written by the same tool that wrote the feature, so they check its assumptions and not what you wanted.
- The tests replace the database, the payment service or the network with fakes, so the real connection is never tried.
- A test checks that something runs without an error, not that the result is right.
- Your computer or the host differs from the test environment.
How to fix it
- Write down the exact steps a user takes and what should happen at the end.
- Follow them yourself in the running app and note the first step that goes wrong.
- Ask Codex to write one test that follows those same steps and make sure it fails before the fix.
- Open the tests and check what they check. A test with no real comparison proves nothing.
- Run the tests in a clean environment, such as a fresh checkout, to catch things that only work on your computer.

Should I trust tests written by Codex?
Treat them as a start. Add at least one test that follows what a real user does, and run the app yourself.
Why did the test pass before the fix?
A test that cannot fail does not test anything. Make sure each new test fails first.
